About Oyatsu Aoi

Oyatsu-aoi sweet cake Oyatsu-aoi sweet cake

Oyatsu Aoi's additive-free snacks are made completely by hand. We use only beet sugar, and the azuki beans are from Hokkaido, the northernmost part of Japan. We strive to make snacks that use simple ingredients, which are good for the body and soul.
As a challenge to open new possibilities, we try new ingredients that are not familiar to "wagashi." Additionally, we are trying to grow azuki beans on our own, in order to know more about the ingredients themselves. May these challenges bring more joy to the oyatsu we offer in the near future.

Aoi Tsuchida

Oyatsu AOI - Aoi TsuchidaBorn and raised in Kyoto, Japan. Her love of wagashi began from her grandmother's ohagi, or rice balls coated with sweetned red azuki beans, and she hopes to provide wagashi with the same warmth. After experiencing sales and manufacturing in a wagashi company, she started "Oyatsu AOI." Her motto is to make nostalgic wagashi that have a sense of modernity. Recently, in order to know more about the wagashi ingredients, she is trying to grow azuki beans herself.
